Developing capacitated <i>p</i>-median location-allocation model in the spopt library to allow UCL student teacher placements using public transport

Abstract. Location-allocation is a key tool within the GIS and network analysis toolbox. In this paper we discuss real world application of location-allocation case study (approx 800 students, 500 schools) from UCL using public transport. The use transportation for study, as many approaches only make drive-time or walking-time distances, but location in Greater London, UK makes inclusion transport vital study. implemented capacitated p-median model, spopt library, part Python Spatial Analysis Library (PySAL). variation problem new addition to which work will present. results initial version has shown marked improvement on travel time, with time reduced by 891 minutes overall an sample 93 students (9.58 per student).
